Project description
Following the food crisis of 2012, the “Program of sustainable Improvement of the living conditions of the populations’ most affected by the Food and Nutrition Crisis of 2012 in Mauritania – recovery phase” aimed to ensure the rehabilitation and consolidation of livelihoods and nutritional status of the most vulnerable people in a sustainable way. It would take over from the emergency phase of the crisis response by adopting a multisectoral and sustainable approach in favor of the most vulnerable populations, small farmers and agropastoralists of the Wilayas of Gorgol, Brakna, Guidimakha, and of the Assaba.
Services provided
CA 17 International provided a senior expert, team leader for a duration of 178 working days over a 2-year period, to support the overall coordination of the Program in accordance with the National Strategies on Nutrition, Social Protection and Food Security: i) support to the management of NGOs and providers of implementation of the 6 sub-projects of the Program; ii) support to the coordination and development of the National Strategy on Food Security and Nutrition, and finally, iii) support in monitoring & evaluation and capitalization of the overall results and the Program’s approach to “cash-transfer”. The Technical Assistant, team leader, also supported the Delegation of the European Union in Mauritania for the identification of new interventions under the 11th EDF.
