The Banana Accompanying Measures (BAM) 2012 and 2013 program aimed at supporting Belize in its adjustment process following the liberalization of the European Union market for bananas, through major efficiency of the banana production and better living standards and conditions of farmers and persons concerned.
The program included two major components: i) Competitiveness Component; and ii) Rural Development Component.
Services provided
Within a consortium, CA 17 International was involved in the implementation of the first component by providing Technical Assistance in support of the implementation of the BAM program. The objective of the Technical Assistance was to increase banana productivity, promote economic and social development in the sector and strengthen the existing political and institutional framework by providing technical, administrative and managerial support, to the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Agriculture and other Ministries and stakeholders related to the banana sector. CA 17 International mobilized one of the 3 key experts, agronomist, specialist in banana production who is responsible for the technical support to producers and their organisations.
