Project description

The Feasibility study for the Support Program to Small and Medium Agricultural and Agribusiness Enterprises (SME), had as an overall objective to develop the agricultural products production, processing and marketing activities with a financial and non-financial assistance to SME in rural areas. The Specific Objectives of The Program were: i) The improvement of the technical-economic information about the main sectors in target production basins intended for different private and institutional stakeholders; ii) The improvement of credit access for SME by tailoring the financial products more closely to their needs; iii) The development of capacity for SME management by the implementation of a local training and advisory offer adapted to needs.

Services provided

CA 17 International mobilised 3 experts (one team leader, one international financial expert and one zootehnician) and a backstopping team from the headquarters to: i) Make recommendations on the definition of the program target area (3 regions or part of regions); ii) Identify the targets program SME in this area; iii) Validate the three main assumptions underlying the program. The main results expected were the following: i) A short participative diagnosis about SME development in rural areas; ii) The submission and validation of the Support Program to SME proposal according to the current situation, as well as the validation of the concrete models of collaboration between the Program Contractor, the Sectoral Ministries and the other Program and Project partners.
