Project description
In order to embark on the path of an effective sustainability of its action, the COPAGEF asked CA 17 International for support in carrying out its own reflection, in building its strategy and in elaborating its practical actions. As part of this mission, CA 17 International:
- Provided a methodological support to the Board of Directors of the COPAGEF in implementing its medium-term strategic plan and its translation into action plans: Animation of sessions in Moundou; Remote support during intersessions; Conducting a study and discovery trip to an African country with like-minded organisations’ that had made progress in finding their own solutions;
- Initiated a partnership between the COPAGEF and a French Professional Organisation in order to create long-term habits of exchange in methods and practices between two professional organisations, one in the North and the other in the South;
- Assisted the COPAGEF in the development of funding packages to be presented to potential funding partners.
Project goals
Within the framework of the RENCAR project, which aimed to strengthen the capacities of actors in the rural world by improving vocational training systems in a concerted framework involving the State and the agricultural profession, the project supported the creation, in July 2002, of a framework for consultation and joint management of rural training, the Joint Council for Management of Rural Training (COPAGEF).
Services provided
During the mission, CA 17 International provided the following services:
- Facilitation of strategic support sessions with the Board of Directors and the Executive Secretariat (15 people);
- Intersessional support in the form of recommendations and exchanges of letters (electronic and/or paper). The Board of Directors with its secretariat was responsible for facilitating interventions with PO members and departmental sections;
- A study trip in Africa for 15 people during 5 days;
- Drafting of a medium-term strategy developed and chosen by the COPAGEF;
- Drafting of action plans chosen by the COPAGEF for the years 2006-2007-2008, in sliding form and with the corresponding budgets;
- The identification of the Northern Professional Organization, formally engaging in an active partnership with the COPAGEF;
- Description of the content of this partnership and their commitments;
- Preparation of funding applications for each of the actions’ listed and requiring external support.
