The main objective of the of the Rice Sector Support program was to contribute to improve food security in Mali by increasing rice production volumes, especially though: i) Promoting the intensification of rice production in the Office du Niger area; ii) promoting village rice cultivation irrigated by pumping along along the Bani and Niger rivers in the 5th Region (VRESIII); iii) Improving information levels for all actors in the sector.
Services provided
CA 17 International provided an international team leader, specialised in project evaluation; an international expert, specialised in Farmers’ Organisations; a national expert in rural engineering and a national expert in sociology. The objectives of the evaluation were to, i) Assess overall and independently the results of the three strands of the Rice Sector Support Program (PAFR); ii) Overall assessment of the impact of the Program on the rice sector; iii) Assess the effectiveness/efficiency of the investments funded under the PAFR; iv) Draw the main lessons from the intervention and make proposals for a possible contribution in the future (11th EDF).
