Project description
To establish a sustainable basis for the small irrigation sub-sector, the Ministry of Agriculture (MAG) has decided to develop a specific strategy called “Small Irrigation Strategy in Niger” (SPIN), whose objective was to provide the country with a guidance framework on small-scale irrigation as an important vector for food security, improving farmers’ incomes and adapting Nigerien agriculture to climate change. The development, as well as the implementation of SPIN, was supported by the Niger-German Program for the Promotion of Productive Agriculture (PromAP), which aimed, at maturity of 6 years, to the sustainable improvement of the contribution of Nigerien agriculture towards Niger’s economic growth and food security.
