Project description
The Project of Technology Transfer towards Farmers of the North and Northeast of Haiti (PTTA) was implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development (MANRRD). It aimed to contribute to a sustainable improvement of agricultural incomes and food security in the Northern Region of Haiti.
The project aimed, more specifically, at promoting new agricultural technologies for farmers by implementing an incentives’ scheme (direct financial support) granted to farmers through vouchers that enable them to purchase agricultural inputs, as well as Technical Assistance services from suppliers of local agricultural goods and services in the area and thus for the adoption of technical packages.
Services provided
As SPO, CA 17 International was responsible for the implementation of the incentives’ scheme and technical assistance to producers and suppliers of local agricultural goods and services in the North East region, by working closely with the Agricultural Departmental Offices (ADO) and the Agricultural Municipal Offices (AMO). The SPO provided support to 10,850 farmers on the following sectors: coffee, cocoa, agroforestry gardens (Creole gardens), improved rice farming, sweet potato, sisal, peanut, sorghum, castor oil plant and gardening (mobile pumps units).
