Project description
The expected results, which had been the subject of all the expertise of the CA 17 International experts, were:
- Identifying the nature and targeting of actions to be undertaken to revitalise existing structures recognized as viable;
- Define the forms of professional organisations and institutions to be created in addition to the existing structures (cross-cutting organisations: agricultural chambers, branch organisations, group of producers);
- Determine the nature of arrangements in order to establish a farmers’ register;
- Identify legislative and regulatory adjustment needs;
- Estimate the human and financial resources to be implemented according to an indicative timetable;
- Draft terms of reference for priority work to be undertaken.
Project goals
The purpose of this study was to review the organisation of the agricultural sector in Lebanon and to specify the nature of the operational decisions to be taken in this area in line with the existing situation, the expectations and needs of agricultural operators and with the strategy of the Lebanese government.
